2025 Annual Lodge Historical Report
The year 2025 AD, marking the 109th year of Harmony Lodge No. 21, has been an exceptional one for our Lodge and its Brothers. Under the continued leadership of Worshipful Brother Matthew Harris, PM, the focus remained on brotherhood, enhancing the membership experience, creating opportunities for growth outside of stated and degree meetings, and fostering connections with Masonic appendant bodies. The Lodge continued to prioritize charity, Masonic education, and the application of teachings from the tracing board, as illuminated in the Volume of Sacred Law prepared by the Grand Architect of the Universe.
Ritual and Membership
Harmony Lodge welcomed several new members to the fraternity this year. Most Tuesday evenings outside of regular stated meetings were dedicated to practicing upcoming degrees and passing off ritual requirements for officer positions. These practices enhanced the degree experiences of our new members and strengthened bonds through the initiatic experience. Harmony Lodge No. 21 can now confer most degrees without assistance from other lodges, though we thoroughly enjoy the brotherhood that comes with support from our brothers in neighboring lodges.
Among the special degrees this year was a double Master Mason degree held for two brothers at the Ogden Masonic Temple with support from several brothers throughout our district. Because of the unique nature of having two lodge rooms, each brother received the singular experience of being the candidate of focus, with degree work for each conducted simultaneously in separate lodge rooms.
We also had the privilege of holding a triple Entered Apprentice degree on April 1st. There were no April Fools' jokes that evening—only the excellent ritual work of the brethren as these three new brothers took their first steps in Masonry and commenced their labors with us.
Harmony Lodge increased its membership this year. We had no suspensions due to non-payment of dues (all dues were received by June). No brothers demitted this year. Our current membership totals are as follows:
● Entered Apprentices: 4
● Fellowcrafts: 2
● Master Masons: 46
New Degrees Conferred in 2025:
● Entered Apprentices: 4 (Brothers Alan Hood, Adam Smith, David Wilkins, and Scott Bartholomew)
● Fellowcrafts: 1 (Brothers Scott Bartholomew)
● Master Masons: 2 (Brothers Rick Major and Matthew Aston)
We continue to maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective members thanks to our brothers inviting good men to attend our open events and through beafreemason.org.
Salvation Army Partnership
Our chosen charity this year was the Salvation Army. In February, representatives visited us to provide an overview of their mission and their needs for the coming year. The Bridgerland Area chapter is rebuilding its operations and could benefit from additional volunteer support. We committed to supporting their efforts throughout the year.
Malad Lodge No. 51 and Corrine Lodge No. 5 Visitations
In March, the brothers of Harmony Lodge No. 21 and Corrine Lodge No. 5 traveled to Malad to share a meal and attend a stated meeting with Malad Lodge. We tripled their attendance for the meeting, shared a wonderful homemade meal, and enjoyed an evening filled with brotherhood and the exchange of ideas. We appreciate our brothers to the north who live across the border and thank them for their hospitality and support.
Later that same month, several brothers from Harmony Lodge supported Corrine Lodge No. 5 during a special Fellowcraft Degree. The candidate was the father of one of Corrine Lodge's elected officers, making it a particularly meaningful evening to witness and support.
Easter Celebration
Several of our members attended an Easter Observance at the Catholic Church in Hyde Park. The parish was filled to capacity, and the brothers were able to celebrate a special Easter weekend together.
Saturday Breakfast
Worshipful Master Matthew Harris continued the tradition of fourth Saturday breakfasts at the Lodge throughout the year (excluding December). Families and interested gentlemen are invited to attend. As several members have younger children, the brethren assembled a toy box with donated play items for the children to enjoy while the adults socialize. These Saturday morning gatherings have become very popular with the membership and their families. Attendance has been so strong that we often need to take shifts at the tables. The children particularly enjoy their playtime in the Lodge room with the donated toys.
Grand Master's Visitation
The June visitation of the Grand Master was a historic occasion, with most of the Grand Line present. An excellent historical report on our Lodge's history was shared, followed by lively discussions after each Grand Lodge officer's report. It was especially meaningful to have our Grand Master in attendance. The Grand Master reported that Harmony Lodge is doing well and working in the right direction.
All members shared fellowship in the banquet room after the meeting. Many of the Grand Officers' ladies and the ladies of our membership enjoyed Summer Fest and the open markets in downtown Logan during the visitation meeting.
Five-Year Plan
Worshipful Brother Matthew Harris, along with his Senior and Junior Wardens, presented a five-year plan for the Lodge to the membership. It included a gap analysis identifying areas where the Lodge excels and areas for improvement in the coming years. The plan was well received, and the brothers voted to adopt it.
Awards and Recognition
Harmony Lodge No. 21 received the Master Builder Award at the Builder level during Grand Communications in recognition of meeting our goals in 2024. In November, we submitted our award paperwork to the Grand Senior Warden with proof required to earn this award again—this time at the Master Builder level.
During our September Stated Meeting, Worshipful Brother Matthew Harris presented our Brother Secretary with an award for his efforts and service. This year marks Brother Gary Roberts' third year in this position, and the Lodge wished to present him with a tangible token of appreciation for his hard work and dedication. Worshipful Harris stated that the Lodge would not be where it is today without the Secretary's support of the Worshipful Master and the Brethren.
Job's Daughters Support
Harmony Lodge had the privilege of supporting Job's Daughters several times throughout the year, including providing assistance with chairs and seating during their installation, as well as supporting their breakfasts and other events. We appreciate their trust in calling upon us when needed and hope to one day host them again within the walls of our Masonic temple in Logan.
